E.W. Howell Breaks Ground at the Suffolk County Supreme Court

Riverhead, NY – July 12, 2004 – E.W. Howell was recently awarded General Contractor for renovation and addition to the Suffolk Country Supreme Court Complex located in Riverhead, New York.  The ground breaking ceremony was held on Monday July 12, 2004 to kick off the launch of construction.

About the Project

New jury facilities will be located on the ground floor and will consist of a large assembly room, 12 impaneling rooms, jury workroom and lounge with a child center, attorney lounge and cafeteria in close proximity.  Eight new civil courtrooms, one large ceremonial courtroom, and Judge’s chambers with support offices are located on the second and third floors.  One courtroom is planned to receive cutting edge communications technology.  The glass-enclosed atrium allows views of all floor levels and a landscaped courtyard from public lobby and corridors.  The addition will eliminate a large portion of the on-site parking and new parking will be developed by the Town of Riverhead at other locations.

The three-story addition includes 80,000 SF of interior space will be carried out in three phases over a three year period.  Construction is expected to be complete in 2007.
