E.W. Howell promotes Bob Zirkel, Harry Hansen and Linda Risi
2/4/2008 - E.W. Howell Co., Inc., is proud to announce the promotions of Robert Zirkel to General Superintendent of the Manhattan office, Harry Hansen to Project Executive, and Linda Risi to Assistant Controller.
Robert Zirkel has over 25 years experience in the construction industry. He started at E.W. Howell in 1985 as a Project Superintendent. Past projects include Nightingale Bamford School , Hotel Kitano, Riker's Island , and Visitor's Center & Pfizer Lab, both at The New York Botanical Garden. Most recently, Bob worked on the award winning Institute for the Study of the Ancient World project. As General Superintendent of the Manhattan office, Bob will oversee construction superintendents and field operations for all projects in New York City , and will make sure E.W. Howell Quality & Safety Standards are met. Specific duties include coordination of field labor, schedule review, supervising quality control programs, trade union relations and job site safety.
Harry Hansen has over 30 years of construction experience. He started with E.W. Howell in 2001 as a Project Superintendent and has worked on projects such as Duty Free Shops at JFK International Airport , Norwegian Christian Home , and Bay Shore High School . Harry recently completed the award winning Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Laboratory. As Project Executive, Harry is responsible for all aspects of a job including general administration and owner/architect liaison. His role will be to oversee and coordinate the efforts of all members of the project team, to ensure that the level of personnel resources assigned to the project is appropriate and cost-effective, and to supervise the subcontractor selection process.
Linda Risi started with E.W. Howell in 1974 in the Accounting department. For the past 34 years, she has proven to be a valuable asset to the company and to the accounting department. Linda earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Suffolk County Community College , while working full time at E.W. Howell. She most recently held the title of Accounts Payable Manager and has been promoted to Assistant Controller. In her new role, Linda will assist the Controller to ensure the integrity of accounting data throughout the organization. She will work closely with the Accounts Payable, Account Receivable and Payroll departments to review and enforce accounting procedures. Linda will also assist in the closing process and general ledger reconciliations in preparation for the audit process by the external auditors.
